PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Sekisui Eslon Polyboard-UM is a material produced by press-forming ultra high molecular weight polyethylene having an MW of 350 to 5 million (by light scattering) manufactured by the low pressure method. It has superior properties because its molecular weight is 10 times higher than that of ordinary polyethylene or more, and in particular, abrasion resistance, sliding properties and impact resistance are excellent among all the plastics, so it finds wide use from industry-related application to production fields. The operating temperature range is from an ultra-low temperature of -100°C or less, up to 90 to 100°C, and with a specific gravity of 0.94, it is one of the lightest plastics.

FEATURES

■ High abrasion resistance
· It has the highest degree of abrasion resistance among plastic materials, and far surpasses that of steel.
■ Excellent sliding properties / self-lubricity
· It has advanced properties compatible with those of fluororesin, so it is used for many applications such as gears, bearings, and hopper lining materials.
■ High impact resistance
· Does not rupture even in Izod impact test with notch, even at low temperatures.
■ High chemical resistance
· Except for some highly concentrated strong acids and organic solvents, it is not affected by most chemicals. Of course, it has absolutely no water absorption.
■ Excellent electrical properties
· Excellent electrical insulation and excellent high frequency properties.
■ High cold resistance
· It does not become brittle even at an ultra-low temperature of -100℃ or below, and demonstrates stable performance.
■ Hygiene
As with ordinary polyethylene, it is non-toxic, so it is also used for food containers.
■ Other
· Many other features such as lightweightness (specific gravity 0.94), resistance to stress cracking, and excellent processability.
